The first step of maintaining your steering gear is to inspect it for any damages or improper functions, and this can only be carried out by licensed and qualified inspectors who have sufficient knowledge of the inspection process and the requirements. Typically, steering machines are classified into single or double drives. Single-steering machines have two to four rudders, whereas dual-steering machines contain four rudders but can be driven separately per rudder set.
